When the clock strikes twelve on December 31st, people all over the world cheer and wish each other a very Happy New Year. For some, this event is no more than a change of a calendar. For others, the New Year symbolizes the beginning of a better tomorrow. So, if you look forward to a good year ahead, spread happiness with these wonderful New Year wishes.

Healthy Snacks for Your Tummy


Before getting started, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of David Zinczenko's The Abs Diet book. It's not just your run-of-the-mill diet guide that tells you to lower your fat intake and starve yourself by eating 1,000 calories per day. :)

It shows you the 12 "ab friendly" food groups and gives examples of meals and snacks that incorporate all the groups. He provides you with hundreds of recipes, examples of meals to eat at the popular chain restaurants and gives great explanations of what certain foods do to your body. It's very easy to read and small enough to carry with you.

BMI (Body Mass Index)


Another stat you'll want to become familiar with is your BMI - Body Mass Index. This is the measure of your total body fat. It's calculated by dividing your weight (in kilograms) by your height (in meters, squared).

A normal BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9. A person with a BMI under that range is considered to be underweight, and a BMI above that range is considered overweight.

PLEASE NOTE: The BMI indicator is just a guide and may provide misleading results. It does not take into account different body frames, muscle tone, etc. It's important to speak with a physician about your individual weight if you are unsure.

For example, if you are 5'4, 145 pounds but you have a small frame/build, you may look out of shape even though the BMI caluclator says your weight is "desirable."

Those same stats (5'4 and 145 pounds) may look completely different on someone with an average or larger frame/build.

So even though these two people have the same weight and height, they carry it completely differently. The BMI calculator does not take this into consideration.

That's why it's important you speak to a physician about your individual weight.

10 Tummy Flattening Tips


Here's a quick guide you can follow to help flatten your stomach. Print this list out and post it somewhere in your house where you'll see it.

1. Walk/jog for 30 minutes at least 3 times per week to boost your metabolism in order to burn that fat.

2. Eat a small handful of almonds (at least 6) every morning. Almonds are one of the healthiest snacks you can eat and the protein is good for burning fat.

3. Purchase a Pilates DVD and do the exercises at least 2-3 times per week. Pilates works on toning your entire body with concentration on your powerhouse (middle section) and will improve your flexibility.

4. Add fiber to your diet and cut down your intake of the bad carbs. Foods such as white bread, pastas, potatoes, and white rice should be limited. Eat brown rice and whole wheat bread instead. To get that needed fiber increase your intake of fresh fruits and vegetables (especially the leafy green ones).

5. Drink skim milk instead of whole milk. Keep your dairy intake at a minimum because these products often cause bloating and gas.

6. Perform proper crunches at least 3 times a week to train your abs. Avoid sit-ups because they really do very little to firm your stomach. Sit-ups work your hip flexors more than anything else.

7. Drink plenty of water. You should be drinking 6 to 8 glasses per day. Not only will it help fill you up so you eat less, but it aids in digestion.

8. Stop eating within 3 hours of bedtime. If you have to munch on something, eat a small portion of vegetables or fruit. Not eating late can make a huge difference.

9. Eat smaller meals more often instead of 2-3 big meals per day to keep from having that bloated look and feeling. Eating more meals actually kicks up your metabolism.


10. Take a break from healthy eating once in a while and treat yourself to your favorite dessert. If you completely deprive yourself of the foods you love you'll run the risk of going back to your bad eating habits. Moderation is the key.


Just remember that slow and steady wins the race when it comes to slimming your waistline and flattening your stomach. There's no such thing as losing your stomach fast. You have to work at it daily and remain consistent with your diet and exercise.

Top 10 Secrets to Being HAPPY!


One of my favorite songs is Bobby McFerrin's refrain, "Don't Worry, Be Happy". I recently had the opportunity to observe people's reactions when a highway was closed because of an accident ahead. As we waited, I watched as some listened to radios, a few began tossing a Frisbee, other's seemed to be working or reading, and others opted for a quick nap. But, there were also a handful who were clearly agitated and angry. Pacing about, swearing, and upset, they decided that the best response to this event, which none of us could control, was to be very unhappy. I was reminded of Abraham Lincoln's comment that, "Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." The following are my Top 10 Tips to increase happiness in your life:


1. Decide to be a happy person. As Lincoln observed, most people, most of the time, can choose how stressed or happy, how troubled or relaxed they want to be. Choose to be happy.

2. Watch and Read less news. As a recovering news addict, I know this can be difficult because the stock market fluctuates, politicians politic, and sports teams compete. But, most of the time, you don't need the stress. So, just don't watch. I think it was Henry Thoreau who noted that if you've ever read about a train wreck, you understand the principle and don't need to know any more about it.

3. Practice the Attitude of Gratitude. We all have so much to be grateful for. Just thanking the many people who assist us, encourage us, teach us and open doors for us could take all day!

4. Take Time. My cat has taught me much about loyalty, about noticing the sights, sounds, and smells in the yard, about being relaxed and about play. Eat when you're hungry, nap when you need it. Get your ears scratched whenever possible!

5. Laugh everyday. Hear a joke, tell a joke, laugh at yourself, laugh with your friends and family and co-workers. There are very few medicines as powerful as laughter, and I don't think you can over-dose, although it is addicting!

6. Love well. Express your affection, appreciation, friendship and warmth to those around you, and they will almost always respond in the most amazing ways! Be generous--it pays great dividends!

7. Work hard. This one comes as a bit of a surprise, but there is tremendous satisfaction in being competent, and joy in completing our assigned tasks. One of the great sources of happiness is to do work that is worthy of you, and to do it well.

8. Learn something new, everyday. To be happy, most of us must also be growing, expanding, learning and challenging ourselves. Read, listen, adapt and stretch to accommodate new ideas and new information.

9. Use your body as it was designed. Walk and run, stretch, throw things, and lift things. Dance! Exercise is good, but so is making love, mixing up a batch of cookies, or exchanging backrubs. You have a body and it can be either a source of joy, or a source of aches and pains. Your choice.

10. Avoid toxins. I prefer writing positives (things to do) rather than negatives (things to fear), but reality says there are negative people and there are bad chemicals, stressful noises, and unsafe places. Don't go there! Avoid poisons whenever possible. It seems to work out better that way.

And the final, most important tip for clear skin is DO NOT squeeze pimples! Yes, it’s tempting, but squeezing a pimple will only make it get worse and take longer to clear. It bruises the skin, causes scarring, and can spread bacteria, causing more pimples.

How to Use Your Intuition to Make Big Decisions

Have you ever had a tough time trying to make an important or big decision and didn't know which way to go? Maybe you have stayed awake all night getting one of those level headaches at the front of your brain whilst attempting to work pout the logical next step?

Sometimes it can be awfully tricky to make those hard decisions in a short time and there is always the nagging doubt that we may have taken the wrong road. Is there another way to cope with this situation when it appears other than hair pulling, lack of sleep and grumbling at our loved ones as they try to be encouraging?

Well there is another way but it requires a level of trust you might not have yet. It requires asking your deeper mind for its wisdom and letting it give you the answer when it is ready - but, rest assured, it will always be the right decision and at just the right time.

By "deeper mind" I am talking about the subconscious mind and our intuition. Everyone has intuition even though they might not think they have. The subconscious has stored within it an enormous amount of information gleaned from the world around you and it can make connections in ways your conscious mind would never be able to so why not take deliberate advantage of that. Most people do rely on their intuition or gut instinct probably more than they realise but did you know you can get an answer from it whenever you want and not just by chance.

How do you get an answer from your subconscious when you need it? The best time to seek or ask for an answer to your question or a solution to your problem is right before you go to sleep. Concentrate on the problem for five minutes all the while asking for an answer. Try to let go of any anxiety or bad feeling as it isn't good to dwell on this. You want to maintain a positive frame of mind before sleeping. Ask out loud if possible, something along the lines of, "give me an answer to this question" or "how can I achieve so and so..." and so on. Just word it in a way that makes sense to you.

The key here is desire. The more you desire an answer to your question, the quicker it will arrive. The more passion we can generate around the issue, the more important our mind will assume it is and the quicker it will produce the solution. It may take one night or a couple but if you trust in the process you will find exactly the information you seek coming to you at just the right time.

Seven Steps to Making Better Decisions

Heads or tails? Have you ever agonized over a decision and wound up wishing you could just flip a coin for a quick yes-or-no answer? Or do you catch yourself twiddling your thumbs and hoping no one will notice you're stalling? Some decisions have life-or-death consequences-and some are even more important than that.

Education, career and marriage choices can affect the course of our whole life. Character and spiritual choices can have an even more far-reaching impact. Tough decisions and complicated choices can thwart us. But just putting off a major decision doesn't solve anything, and may even be the worst choice.

Here are some commonsense strategies that can help you overcome an overwhelming choice.

1. Seek wisdom.

This includes prayer, study of the subject in the Scriptures and seeking wise counsel throughout the process.

Those who believe in God and the power of prayer know why this step is first. Sometimes there isn't time to do anything else.

George Evans, a retired architectural engineer, tells of a time he was between jobs and praying for God's help to find a good one. He made an appointment to meet with the head of a firm he was considering.

"We pulled into the parking lot together, and he asked for my resume as we walked in," Mr. Evans said. The boss offered him a job on the spot: to manage the complete restoration of the Statue of Liberty before the U.S. bicentennial celebrations in 1976!

"I'd prayed about it," Mr. Evans said, but his answer was needed right away, so he couldn't formally go through any other steps. To him, this was a clear answer to prayer.

Other decisions have a clear answer in the Bible. If someone is asking you to cosign on a loan, Proverbs 6:1-5 gives a warning. If your sales manager wants you to shade the truth to make more sales, the Bible emphatically tells us not to lie (Exodus 20:16; Revelation 21:8)-though exactly what to say or not say to the sales manager probably requires additional wisdom.

The Bible encourages seeking wise counsel. For spiritual decisions, seek a wise, biblically sound minister. For financial advice, seek someone trained and experienced in the field, and avoid anyone who has a conflict of interest-who has something to sell. The temptation might be too great to try to fit a square financial instrument into a round hole.

2. Clearly state the problem/opportunity.

Usually this means looking at the problem from all sides, gathering as many relevant facts as possible, then boiling it all down to try to isolate the key issue.

Stating the problem can often be half the battle. It's hard to aim at a fuzzy target, but when you have identified the bull's eye, your chances of success increase.

Part of stating the problem is to consider: How important is it? A critical decision deserves a major investment in research and time, while a day-to-day decision, not so much.

What blind spots might you have in clearly seeing the situation? For important decisions, get advice from someone you trust but who may not look at it the same way. In the biblical story of the Exodus, it only took Moses' father-in-law a day of watching Moses judge long lines of people to see that this wasn't a long-term solution. "Both you and these people who are with you will surely wear yourselves out," he told Moses (Exodus 18:18).

Seeing the situation and a proposed solution through his father-in-law's eyes helped Moses avoid premature burnout.

3. What would the ideal outcome look like?

Consider it in the context of your mission, values and goals.

In the real world, it can seem pointless to consider the ideal solution. Reality dictates decision making as the art of the possible. But for important decisions-who you will marry, where you will go to church, where you will work, where you will live-why not make the time to imagine the best possible outcome? One that meshes with your mission in life, your godly values and your personal goals?

Aim high!

4. Brainstorm for options.

Your research and thought to this point have probably identified several options. But often with difficult decisions it's good to apply your mind and enlist your family, friends and experts in finding a few more. Or in those seemingly impossible scenarios, you may need to create some options where none existed before.

However, studies show we can be stressed out by too many choices, so there's no need to invent extra options just for good measure.

About options: In a crisis we may not have many or may not see many. But a proactive approach to life-planning, setting goals, developing skills-generally gives us more options.

"To be lucky, you need skills." That's how Dr. David Campbell put it in his vocational guidance classic, If You Don't Know Where You Are Going, You'll Probably End Up Somewhere Else. If luck describes the probability of a good outcome, then choosing to develop a variety of useful skills can really increase your luck.

5. Wisely weigh the options.

How do you compare your choices? Only 16 percent of Americans base moral choices on the Bible, according to a 2005 survey by the Barna Group. Those who do, however, have an easier time comparing.

Some options are easy to eliminate if they break God's laws or are obviously unlikely to produce the desired outcome. After eliminating these, hopefully some options are still available (if not, you might have to reexamine those unlikely ones or to brainstorm some more).

Weigh the pros and cons of each option. For a decision about which college to attend, for instance, you might make a table comparing your main college options based on factors such as:

* Strength of academic program in your field.
* Faculty/student ratio or class sizes.
* Cost/financial aid packages.
* Distance from home, etc.


Heather, 18, considered many colleges during her junior and senior years of high school but narrowed it down to two good state schools near her home in Ohio. She looked through the stacks of beautiful brochures that kept coming in from around the country, but she said, "I knew it wouldn't change my mind unless they offered me a full ride."

Often the complexities and number of factors involved can lead to analysis paralysis. Once again, consulting wise counselors can give you fresh insights or reinforce your feelings at this stage.

6. Decide.

For many of us, this is the hardest part. The previous five steps may not have come to a clear winner. When you are uncertain, it's easy to do nothing. Not deciding is itself a decision, and generally not the best one.

Erica, 15, said, "The biggest problem I see is the people who don't decide-who let other people make up their minds for them."

If two choices are equally good and your trusted advisers are split, it may require going with your intuition or even a coin toss.

One of the biggest problems with decisions-especially moral choices-is timing. What's the ideal time to make a decision about a potential problem? Before the problem arises.

Such preparation allows you "to identify your potential temptations, weaknesses, vices, 'fatal attractions,' blind spots, cravings, addictions, etc., and you are able to proactively devise a plan of action that you will not, for any reason, deviate from when faced with any temptation, or other attractive alternatives or options" (Ken Lindner, Crunch Time: Eight Steps to Making the Right Life Decisions at the Right Times, 1999, p. 166).

7. Do.

Once you have decided, develop a plan of action and a list of deadlines and get started. No matter how much time we spent deciding, we can get cold feet.

To be effective, we have to get past this. Decision-making expert David A. Welch told this story: "A colleague of mine had to choose between offers of admission from Harvard and the University of Chicago. 'Relax,' said her mentor. 'No matter which you choose, you will regret it.' There is timeless wisdom in that comment. It is almost always possible to regret our choices, because we do not have to live with the consequences of the alternatives we pass by. We can easily convince ourselves that we would have been better off if we had chosen differently. In most cases, though, there is no good reason to believe that" (Decisions, Decisions: The Art of Effective Decision Making, 2002, pp. 44-45).

However, if it does become clear that we're off course, we can make course corrections. If we've made the wrong decision, we can go through the process again, factoring in the new insights we've learned.

Mudah sahaja! Simpan lipstik kesukaan anda ke dalam peti ais. Kemudian pakailah lipstik seperti biasa. Dengan cara ini, warna lipstik anda akan kelihatan lebih menarik.

Jangan! Jangan! Jangan!

  • Jangan sengaja lewatkan solat. Perbuatan ini Allah tidak suka. Kalau tertidur lain cerita.
  • Jangan masuk ke bilik air tanpa memakai alas kaki (selipar). Takut kalau-kalau terbawa keluar najis, mengotori seluruh rumah Kita.
  • Jangan makan dan minum dalam bekas yang pecah atau sumbing. Makruh kerana ia membahayakan.
  • Jangan biarkan pinggan mangkuk yang telah digunakan tidak berbasuh. Makruh dan mewarisi kepapaan.
  • Jangan tidur selepas solat Subuh, nanti rezeki mahal (kerana berpagi-pagi itu membuka pintu berkat)..
  • Jangan makan tanpa membaca BISMILLAH Dan DOA makan. Nanti rezeki Kita dikongsi syaitan.
  • Jangan keluar rumah tanpa niat untuk membuat kebaikan. Takut-takut Kita mati dalam perjalanan.
  • Jangan pakai sepatu atau selipar yang berlainan pasangan. Makruh dan mewarisi kepapaan.
  • Jangan biarkan mata liar di perjalanan.. Nanti hati Kita gelap diselaputi dosa.
  • Jangan menangguh taubat bila berbuat dosa kerana mati boleh datang bila-bila masa.
  • Jangan ego untuk meminta maaf pada ibu bapa dan sesama manusia kalau memang Kita bersalah.
  • Jangan mengumpat sesama rakan taulan. Nanti rosak persahabatan Kita hilang bahagia.
  • Jangan lupa bergantung kepada ALLAH dalam setiap kerja Kita. Nanti Kita sombong apabila berjaya. Kalau gagal kecewa pula.
  • Jangan bakhil untuk bersedekah. Sedekah itu memanjangkan umur dan memurahkan rezeki Kita.
  • Jangan banyak ketawa. Nanti mati jiwa.
  • Jangan biasakan berbohong, kerana ia adalah ciri-ciri munafik dan menghilangkan kasih orang kepada Kita.
  • Jangan suka menganiaya manusia atau haiwan.. Doa makhluk yang teraniaya cepat dimakbulkan ALLAH.
  • Jangan terlalu susah hati dengan urusan dunia. Akhirat itu lebih utama dan hidup di sana lebih lama Dan kekal selamanya.
  • Jangan mempertikaikan kenapa ISLAM itu berkata JANGAN. Sebab semuanya untuk keselamatan Kita. Sesungguhnya ALLAH lebih tahu apa yang terbaik untuk hamba ciptaanNya.
  • Jangan baca saja, tetapi hendaklah disusuli dengan amal. Ilmu tanpa amal seumpama pohon yang tidak berbuah.

Wanita dan Kerjaya



Penglibatan dan peranan wanita dalam membangunkan masyarakat dan negara adalah penting berasaskan kepada tugas dan tanggungjawab malah merupakan satu usaha positif untuk mencapai tahap lebih tinggi berdasarkan kepada konsep pembangunan bersepadu iaitu dari aspek fizikal dan mental setanding dengan kaum lelaki.

Islam tidak menghalang wanita untuk melakukan pekerjaan di luar rumah sekiranya ia merupakan keperluan diri, keluarga, masyarakat dan negara.


Malahan Islam menganggap pekerjaan yang dilakukan oleh wanita atau lelaki merupakan suatu ibadah selagi dilakukan dengan niat yang ikhlas dan tidak terkeluar dari landasan dan peraturan Islam.

Sebagai contoh, wanita-wanita pada zaman Nabi Muhammad s.a.w. turut sama membantu keluarga mereka seperti menggembala, bertani, berniaga dan sebagainya. Contohnya Asma´ binti Abu Bakar yang bekerja sebagai petani dan membantu suaminya mengangkut hasil buah tamar dari ladang ke pasar yang jauhnya kira-kira 1.4 km.


Adalah menjadi kebiasaan bagi wanita bekerja membantu keluarga dan penglibatan me
reka tidak menimbulkan masalah kerana dalam budaya masyarakat Malaysia tugas-tugas di luar rumah sudah menjadi perkara biasa dan sangat diharapkan bagi membantu menambahkan pendapatan keluarga yang nyata memerlukan sumber kewangan lebih.


Secara lazimnya, seseorang wanita yang telah berumah tangga akan bertanggungjawab untuk mengurus dan mentadbir keluarga serta melaksanakan tugas sebagai seorang isteri atau ibu. Maka perbelanjaan rumah yang diberikan mesti digunakan sebaik mungkin dan pelajaran anak-anak juga merupakan keutamaan bagi seorang wanita.

Bagi wanita yang berkerjaya, tanggungjawab mereka juga semakin bertambah kerana wanita yang berkerjaya perlu melaksanakan tanggunjawab sebagai pekerja dan memastikan segala tugasan dilakukan dengan sempurna maka secara tidak langsung wanita bukan sahaja memikul tanggungjawab sebagai isteri, ibu, malahan sebagai pekerja.



Faktor pertama yang menyebabkan wanita bekerja ialah pendidikan yang mereka miliki dan keiinginan untuk mahu menggunakan pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang ada secara total.


Tidak dapat disangkal lagi wanita yang bekerja dapat mengimplementasikan pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang ada pada mereka dan dalam masa
yang sama mereka mampu memperoleh pendapatan sendiri sekali gus membantu meningkatkan taraf ekonomi keluarga.

Perubahan sosial dan keperluan ekonomi yang tinggi juga merupakan antara faktor wanita keluar bekerja kerana tuntutan ini memerlukan mereka membantu suami untuk membentuk keluarga yang bahagia dan selesa serta meringankan beban suami.

Walau apa sekalipun faktor yang menjuruskan wanita, isteri dan ibu keluar bekerja, tanggungjawab dan pembahagian masa antara keluarga dan kerjaya perlulah seiringan agar tidak mengabaikan mana-mana pihak.

Wanita yang bekerja perlu memastikan keperluan rumahtangga dan tanggungjawab sebagai isteri dan ibu perlu dilaksanakan sebaik mungkin walaupun mereka terpaksa bekerja pada siang harinya dan ketika di pejabat mereka juga perlu memberikan komitmen yang penuh untuk melunaskan tugas yang diberikan kepada mereka.


Wanita perlu menghargai kepercayaan yang
diberikan oleh suami kepada mereka dan perlu menjaga nama baik suami dan keluarga ketika berada diluar dan pihak suami sewajarnya memberi perhatian dan panduan serta bimbingan sekiranya isteri mereka memerlukan pendapat dan tempat untuk meluahkan masalah kerana sifat tolak ansur dan tolong-menolong ini mampu melahirkan keluarga yang aman bahagia.


Wanita..Anda yang mana..

Walaupun semua yang dicatatkan ini tidak dapat dijamin ketepatannya, namun saya kira ia boleh menjadi satu sumber rujukan bagi kita dalam membuat pemerhatian dan kaji selidik tentang perangai dan sifat seseorang individu itu. (bagi sesiapa yang berminat saja)

Adapun, perlu saya tegaskan sekali lagi, semua yang dicatatkan ini bukanlah satu fakta 100% tepat yang boleh dijadikan hujjah atau sandaran keyakinan anda, sebaliknya ia hanyalah sekadar satu ramalan berdasarkan fenomena dan pemerhatian yang dilakukan oleh pengkaji2 dalam bidang psikologi manusia.

Pastinya, semua perkara atas dunia ini adalah menjadi hak mutlak ALLAH, yang mempunyai kekuasaan penuh atas apa jua perkara di muka bumi ini.

Semoga apa yang dikongsikan ini dapat sikit sebanyak memberikan panduan pada kita dalam lebih mengenali orang disekeliling kita seterusnya merasai kehebatan dan keagungan ALLAH SWT.
